Privacy policy
This policy describes how NZ Trade Insights ("we", "us") handles personal information when you use nztradeinsights.co.nz and related services (the "Site"). Last updated: 2026.
We aim to meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand). This policy is general information and does not limit your rights under that Act. For legal advice, consult a qualified professional.
Who we are
The Site is operated in connection with NZ Trade Insights, published at https://www.arkhives.nz. Contact for privacy matters should be directed to the operator using the details published on the Site (e.g. footer or contact page) or your usual business contact if you engage us commercially.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device and operating system, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referring URLs, and timestamps. This is often collected automatically through hosting, analytics, or security tools.
- Information you submit: such as name, email, phone number, postcode, or free-text messages when you use contact forms, lead or "get matched" flows, newsletters, or other interactive features.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files or tokens stored on your device to remember preferences, measure traffic, or support security.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (e.g. health data) except where you choose to include it in a message you send us; in that case we will treat it only for the purpose of responding or as required by law.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
- Respond to enquiries and, where applicable, connect you with third parties (e.g. service providers) you have asked to hear from;
- Analyse usage in aggregate to understand readership and performance;
- Detect abuse, fraud, or security issues;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Where we rely on third-party tools (hosting, analytics, form handlers, CRMs), those providers may process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to read those documents where relevant.
Disclosure
We may disclose information:
- To service providers who assist us (e.g. cloud hosting, email delivery), subject to confidentiality and purpose limitations;
- To third-party businesses when you explicitly request an introduction, quote, or callback through a form on the Site;
- If required by law, court order, or regulatory request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information as a standalone product. If we ever use advertising or data partnerships that could be considered "selling" or "sharing" under overseas laws, we will update this policy and, where required, offer appropriate choices.
Storage and security
Data may be stored in New Zealand or in other countries where our providers operate. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Enquiry and lead data may be retained for a period appropriate to follow-up, reporting, and dispute resolution.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you. To request access or correction, contact us using the details on the Site. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children
The Site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. If you believe we have collected a child's information, please contact us so we can delete it where appropriate.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" reference will be revised when material changes are made. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
